HISTORY
Aspen Christian College was founded in 1985, by Drs. A.M. and Calvin Columbus. For many years, these brothers, along with Dr. John Carpenter, had labored with various local churches in the Rocky Mountain region.
They worked to establish quality christian education for pastors and christian leaders who complained they were shut-out by the seminaries and other schools of higher learning because they could not the afford the high tuition and often had to drop out of classes to tend to their ministerial duties.
Then, in the summer of 1985, Ambrose sent for his mentor and former college president, Dr. W.R. Corvin in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dr. Corvin, along with his brother (R.O. Corvin), helped found the religious education department of Oral Roberts University and other Bible Colleges.
The result was outstanding and in 1991, Aspen Christian College was accredited by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education to issue B.A., M.A., and Doctorate level degrees in religious studies to those who completed the required curriculum.

December 2008:
Michelle Obama

Congratulations go out to first Lady, Michelle Obama, for her recent acclaim, to her outstanding husband, and also Aspen Alum, the Honorable President-Elect of the United States, Mr. Barack Obama.
The president, and board of Aspen Christian College, very proudly bestowed its highest honorary degree of Doctorate of Philosophy in Urban Ministries to Michele, for her impressive resume of urban Christian service throughout the metro-Chicago area, over the past 20 years. Although Michelle has labored partly in the shadows of her renown husband, (President-Elect Barack Obama), in the past few years, she was recommended to us by our Regional Directory in Chicago, Illinois (Dr. Reginald Saffo), who is an associate of Mr. Obama's State Director, Ken Bennett.
Michelle graduated with cum laude honors from Princeton University in 1985. From there, she attended Harvard, where she earned her law degree in 1988. After graduating from Harvard, Michelle accepted a position at a downtown Chicago law firm. In 1989, she was asked to mentor a summer associate from Harvard, Barak Obama.
Although she continues to work closely with Barack, she does not shirk from her devotion to their wonderful daughters, Malia (9 years old) and Natasha (7 years old) and has always been a loving mother to them.
